RALEIGH, N.C., OCTOBER 29, 2026 — Oberlin Hotel, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, has officially opened its doors, marking the arrival of the very first hotel in Raleigh’s historic Village District. With one of the most iconic new views of the downtown Raleigh skyline, the 153-room property pays tribute to the neighborhood’s deep historical roots as a new social and culinary destination in the area.
The hotel’s name honors Oberlin, one of Wake County’s most significant Reconstruction-era communities, established as a freedman’s village in the 1860s. Carrying that spirit of community into its design, Oberlin Hotel offers a seamless bridge to the surrounding Village District. Guests are steps away from more than 100 neighborhood shops, dining options, and services, with both NC State University and downtown Raleigh just minutes away.
“Bringing a hotel to the Village District for the first time is both a privilege and a deep responsibility,” said Chelsea Lewis, Vice President of Hospitality at Quality Oil, manager of the property. “This land and neighborhood carry immense history. Our goal was to create a gathering place that honors that heritage, where neighbors can pop in for a morning coffee, visitors can explore Raleigh from an authentic home base, and the community can come together to celebrate.”
“Hotels are at their best when they don’t just host visitors, but truly belong to the neighborhood,” said Bake Baker, General Manager of Oberlin Hotel. “From coffee at Grounded to drinks at Proper, along with our courtyard and event spaces, we designed this hotel to be a living room for the Village District. We can’t wait to welcome both our guests and neighbors in to make it their own.”
A Look Inside Oberlin Hotel’s Culinary Concepts & Amenities
The Oberlin features three distinct food and beverage experiences tailored for both local residents and staying guests:

Proper (Now Open): Located on the ground floor, the lobby bar serves regionally inspired dishes and craft cocktails in an inviting, polished atmosphere.
Grounded (Now Open): A casual, market-style lobby coffee shop offering artisanal coffee, fresh bakery items, and light morning fare for early risers and remote workers.

Wren (Spring 2027): Situated on the upper level, this forthcoming signature restaurant and rooftop bar will feature panoramic views toward downtown Raleigh, seasonal small plates, and an elevated wine and cocktail program.
Amenities and Design
In addition to guest rooms and a signature presidential suite, the property offers versatile meeting and banquet spaces designed for corporate gatherings and social events. Outside, an expansive courtyard and covered patio for live music, full beverage service, and catered events.

Guests staying at Oberlin can also take advantage of a 24-hour fitness center and earn or redeem points through Hilton Honors, the loyalty program for Hilton’s portfolio of brands.
